Why AI still can’t replace Tech intermediary role

Many organizations have already rolled out AI in certain departments — Customer Service, Marketing, Product Management, you name it. But trust me on this: Product or Project Management work is too nuanced for AI to handle well in organizations, at least as of 2026. About 80% of the job still relies on a “human in the loop.” Here’s why…

1. Human Interaction

Take a Product Owner (PO) or Business Analyst (BA), for example. They act as the bridge between the business unit and the dev team (including UX/UI designers and QA). Every bit of that communication — gathering requirements, getting confirmations, chasing progress from each side to keep the project on track — genuinely needs a human touch. If you’re working remotely, you can just call. If you’re in the office, you can walk over. On a call, you pick up on tone of voice — whether the person you’re talking to sounds humble or defensive. In person, you get even more: facial expressions, the look in someone’s eyes, body language — all of which add up to a fuller read of the situation – AI still can’t replicate this kind of human complexity anytime soon.

2. Human Revision

AI is still a tool — one that makes work faster and more convenient. Writing Epics or User Stories, sketching out rough wireframes for how a system should work — these can now get done in no time, leveraging what the tool can do. Even so, we still need to review everything for accuracy and refine it ourselves before it becomes the final version.

3. Individual Experience

A professional’s edge is experience.

Even if we pour all our knowledge into an AI agent’s skillset, it still can’t fully replace our lived experience. That’s exactly why companies still look for Senior-level candidates and above — because skill and experience are embedded in a person’s mind in a way that can’t be cloned yet. If you’re into sci-fi movies, you know the trope: no matter how faithfully a humanoid is cloned from the original, there’s always some difference. “That’s because our brains aren’t built on logic alone — they carry personality, instinct, gut feeling, and talent too.

In the end, no matter how capable AI becomes, as long as we keep growing alongside it, I believe we won’t be replaced anytime soon.
